Last weekend, April 27th, I attended Stagecoach festival in the Coachella Valley near Palm Springs, CA. A little something you might not know about me is my obsession with live music and how much I love country music. A lot of people are typically surprised by my love of country music, but let me tell you why I love it. To me, music is a feeling, it speaks through you directly into your soul and the emotions you have going on inside you. Music has the opportunity to be relatable to anyone at anytime. Country music is built off emotions, and that's what I love so much about it!
So I wanted to share with you all a few songs and artists that stole the show this last weekend and hope you feel it too.
The Back Story:
Some of you who know me or have read my story, know that I got into this industry in a very round about and unconventional way. What I love about this industry, is that is fuels, breeds, and encourages unconventionality, so I started off right on track, in my opinion. I stumbled into this field because of the passions I have and those passions were fueled, in part, by witnessing and experiencing other passion throughout the world.
The turning point, that I can pin down, was my first trip to Europe when I was a Junior in college. I've always had these passions, but I never thought I could do anything with them, until then. This trip opened my eyes to adventure (although I've always had an adventurous streek in me) and encouraged me to try something new. While in Europe, I was studying communications and developing a research project for my International Studies minor. These 2 things alone were so far different than anything I'd focused on in academics for my 1st 3 years in college. It was a breath of fresh air to not have to think about the human body and it's recovery process.
In the end, upon arrival back in the states, I declared "I will not go to grad school to pursue my DPT". You can just imagine the heads that exploded when I decided this, trust me, I was met with far more opposition than I expected. But everything worked out in the end because all those pieces have led me here, pursuing my passion every day!
I've picked out 3 photos from the Europe trip below that really capture the transition I had into this field and the feelings I was forming while abroad.
Now that you know the back story, let's talk about passion...
I have a passion for fashion, creativity, art and travel. These things all intertwine for me and are fueled when I encounter more passion. I wanted to share a few of those passions that drive my passion. It's a combination of people, places, and experiences.
Other Creatives -
Alright, I've talked too much... hope you know a little bit more about the inner-workings of my mind and that I encouraged you to think further, do more, and step outside the lines.
Yours in Style,
Last week I traveled up to Los Angeles to a sample sale for Objects Without Meaning & since we were already in LA, we decided to make the most of it. This included a trip to the flower market, and a stop at Papillion Art Gallery for their latest exhibit by Zoe Buchman. The instillation is a collection of hanging vintage lingerie hand-embroidered with vulgar rap lyrics. The Juxtaposition, beauty and over feeling of the exhibit was absolutely amazing!! If you're around the area, I recommend a stop in while it's still here in LA. You can read more about the exhibit over at Papillion Art Gallery website. In the meantime, here are a few photos I snapped on my phone while I was there.
